Join us April 30-May 1 at Maranatha Baptist Church for a live-stream of the parenting conference – Family Discipleship. We will learn from Deuteronomy 6 how we can disciple our families to love the Lord through the everyday rhythms of life. All parents with children of any age are welcome to attend as well as grandparents, and anyone else interested in discipling in the home. Childcare will be provided for children 12 and under. Please register by April 26.
Schedule
Friday, April 30
5:30 p.m. Dinner – The adults will eat a catered meal from Olive Garden together in the Fellowship Hall. A meal will also be provided for the children participating in the Childcare.
6:15 p.m. Session One (45 minutes)
Model – Every person who has been around young people understand that kids are learning from us. Each of us is making disciples. The greatest commandment is to love the Lord. That’s what family discipleship is at its core, helping our families to treasure Christ as Lord. Each of us needs to model this by serving as a godly example to our families by living out a genuine walk with God and demonstrating true repentance where and when we fall short.
7:10 p.m. Discussion Break
7:30 p.m. Session Two (45 minutes)
Time – We can begin to disciple our families in the things we are already doing. We can learn to better utilize the built-in rhythms of life for the purpose of thinking about, talking about, and living out the gospel through consistency, clarity, creativity and counsel.
8:20 p.m. Discussion Break
8:45 p.m. Head Home!
Saturday, May 1
9:00 a.m. Coffee & Breakfast for the Adults - A light snack will be provided for your children part way through the morning – please feed them breakfast before you come.
9:30 a.m. Session Three (45 minutes)
Moments – As we realize that all of life is made up of little moments, we will begin to capture and leverage those everyday small moments of life for the purpose of gospel-centered conversations by being observant, being prepared and being genuine.
10:20 a.m. Break
10:30 a.m. Session Four (45 minutes)
Milestones – While most of life is made up of small moments, many milestone events also occur on the path of both children and families. Just like ancient Israel remembered God’s work through milestones, we too can mark and make occasions to celebrate and commemorate significant spiritual milestones of God’s work in the life of the family and child.
11:15 a.m. Lunch Date
If you came with your spouse, feel free to take the last hour and a half to go out to lunch together and talk through the weekend. If you have children in the childcare program, we will provide lunch for them.
